ESCONDIDO, CA — The City of Escondido is marking the 23rd anniversary of Queen Califia's Magical Circle with a monthlong series of free public events at the mosaic sculpture garden created by artist Niki de Saint Phalle, according to the city.

Family Creativity Days are scheduled for Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with hands-on activities and live animal encounters. In addition to special events, the garden is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to noon and on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Queen Califia's Magical Circle, located within Kit Carson Park at 3333 Bear Valley Parkway, is the only American sculpture garden created by de Saint Phalle. Opened in 2003, it features large-scale, whimsical mosaic works inspired by California history and mythology. Event details and registration information are available on the city's website.
