Bex is Your Rancho Coastal Humane Society Pet This Week

Bex is a happy cat.

Bex is a 2-year-old, 7-pound, female, Domestic Short Hair cat with a Blue and White coat.

Bex was taken to a local animal shelter with her kitten, then transferred to Rancho Coastal Humane Society through Friends of County Animal Shelters (FOCAS.)

She’s a happy cat. She can be shy, but in most cases she’s sociable right away. She struts around with confidence. She can be “chatty” when she has things on her mind that she wants to tell you. Bex loves to cuddle.

Special note.

More American Pets Run Away on the 4th of July Than Any Other Day.

Pets don't like fireworks. No matter where they run, there’s more noise…so they keep running until they’re lost.

DO NOT leave pets outdoors…even in a fenced yard. Keep pets indoors in a secure area. Turn on the radio or TV to mask the noise. Some pets need medication to deal with the stress.

Many pets escape by pulling out of their collars. Use a collar AND a microchip with current, accurate information.

If your pet runs away on the 4th of July, contact the county Department of Animal Services or San Diego Humane Society, whichever provides service for your area.

Post a notice with a photo of you and your pet together on social media. Give contact information, but not so much that you set yourself up for scams.

If you FIND a lost pet that has a collar and identification, contact the owner.

If there’s no identification, get it into an enclosed area and contact County Animal Services or San Diego Humane Society.
