Blaze Erupts At Escondido Business

The fire broke out at Granite Transformations​, a granite countertop installation and remodeling business in Escondido.

ESCONDIDO, CA – An Escondido granite countertop installation and remodeling business was damaged after a blaze erupted at the building early Thursday morning, fire officials said.

The Escondido Fire Department received a report around 2:15 a.m. of a commercial structure fire in the 900 block of West Washington Avenue. When crews arrived, they reported moderate smoke coming from Granite Transformations for Kitchens and Baths, Escondido Battalion Chief Mike Bertrand said.

Fire crews on scene requested an upgraded response, and crews from San Marcos Fire Department responded to assist in battling the blaze at 910 W. Washington Ave. A total of five engines, two trucks, two battalion chiefs and one rescue ambulance responded to the blaze, Bertrand said.

It took crews an hour to contain the fire. The showroom sustained moderate smoke and fire damage, while the warehouse sustained minor smoke damage, Bertrand said. There were no injuries.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
