Body Found In Vehicle Near Lake Hodges

SAN DIEGO, CA – A body was found in a vehicle early Thursday morning near Lake Hodges in an unincorporated area just south of Escondido, authorities said.

Dispatchers received a call about 12:35 a.m. regarding a vehicle parked in the 19000 block of Lake Drive, according to Lt. Karla Menzies of the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies responded to the area and found a dead person inside a vehicle, Menzies said.

No information regarding a vehicle description or the person's age or gender was immediately available.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner responded to the scene around 3 a.m., Menzies said.

An autopsy will be done to determine the cause of death.
