Escondido Motorcyclist Killed In Pala Mesa Crash

The 28-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.

PALA MESA, CA – A 28-year-old Escondido man was killed when he was thrown from his motorcycle after crashing on a rural road south of Pala Mesa, authorities said Tuesday.

It happened shortly before 6:20 p.m. Monday near the intersection of West Lilac Road and Birdsong Drive, California Highway Patrol Officer Mark Latulippe said.

The 28-year-old man was riding a 2001 Kawasaki Ninja eastbound on West Lilac Road when he failed to negotiate a curve in the road, overturned and was ejected onto the roadway, Latulippe said.

He came to a rest just off the south side of the roadway and firefighters from Cal Fire San Diego's Station 15 rushed over to help, Latulippe said.

However, the man's injuries were too severe and he was pronounced dead at the scene, the officer said, adding that the man's name was withheld pending family notification.

CHP officers were investigating the crash, but intoxication was not believed to have been a factor, Latulippe said.
