ESCONDIDO, CA — A monitor lizard on the loose in Escondido was captured last week, but there is reportedly another one on the lam in the area.

Reptile expert Susan Nowicke captured the 3-foot-long lizard Aug. 9 in a pond by Ash Street and El Norte Parkway, according to a post by Facebook group Escondido Friends.

The lizard is under a 30-day quarantine at EcoVivarium, an Escondido-based living museum dedicated to reptiles, amphibians and arthropods, 10News reported. Nowicke serves as president of the museum on South Juniper St.
