Pedestrian Killed On Rural, North County Road

The 33-year-old man was hit Tuesday night by a car near Woods Valley Golf Course in the Valley Center area, officials said.

VALLEY CENTER, CA – An investigation was underway Wednesday into a late-night traffic accident that killed a 33-year-old pedestrian on a rural road near Woods Valley Golf Course.

The man was crossing Valley Center Road south of Mirar De Valle Road about 10 p.m. Tuesday when he was hit by a 2008 Toyota Corolla driven by a 52- year-old Oceanside woman, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The victim died at the scene of the accident.

Investigators were looking into whether the Valley Center resident, whose name was withheld pending family notification, might have been intoxicated at the time, CHP public-affairs Officer Kevin Smale said.
