Pedestrian Struck by Pickup Truck Sunday Suffers Serious Injuries

A 27-year-old man was hit by a pickup truck in nearby San Marcos early Sunday.

SAN MARCOS, CA - A 27-year-old man was walking across a nearby San Marcos street Sunday was hit by a pickup truck and hospitalized with serious injuries, according to sheriff's deputies.

Deputies and paramedics responded to the crash at about 6:40 a.m. at the intersection of East Mission Road and Woodland Parkway, according to Deputy David Arnold Sr.

"Deputies and San Marcos Fire Department personnel arrived within minutes of the collision and found a 27-year-old male on the ground in the roadway beside an early model light colored Toyota pickup," Arnold said.

"The 51-year-old male driver of the Toyota pickup was traveling eastbound on East Mission Road when he struck the pedestrian who was crossing East Mission Road southbound at the intersection."

Paramedics took the victim to Palomar Medical Center with serious, but not life-threatening injuries. Alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the collision, according to Arnold.
