San Diego Family Competes On 'Family Feud'

The Lumpkins family​, who hail from San Marcos, appear on Thursday's episode of the popular game show.

SAN MARCOS, CA – Survey says ... you won't want to miss Thursday's episode of "Family Feud." A family from San Diego County is competing on the popular game show.

The Lumpkins family includes team captain Chris, his wife Diana, sister Maya, brother-in-law Chauncey, and niece Salina. Chris and Diana Lumpkins hail from San Marcos, where Chris owns a landscaping business and Diana works as a technical advisor for Apple.

"This was our first time appearing on a television show and we choose the 'Family Feud' because we love watching families laughing and enjoying each other," Diana Lumpkins said.

Meeting host Steve Harvey was one of the highlights of their experience, she said.

"He and his staff treat you like one big happy family," Lumpkins said. "Our favorite part of the show is when they cut for commercials. Steve Harvey stays on the stage and does his standup comedy when they cut for commercials and he is so funny."

The series features families from across the U.S. as they compete for the chance to win up to $20,000 by guessing the most popular answers to questions posed to 100 people surveyed. The 20th season of the current syndicated series kicked off this week.

"We would encourage all families to try out for the 'Family Feud,'" Lumpkins said. "It was an amazing experience that we got to enjoy with our family."
