SDCCD : Miramar College To Host Equity Summit

San Diego Miramar College will host an Equity Summit featuring “The Constance M. Carroll
Lecture Series,” on Thursday, October 28 through Friday, October 29, 2021.

The Summit will also feature the 2021 ASG Art for Equity Scholarship and Art Contest
in connection with the annual Equity Summit to honor the newly retired Chancellor
of the San Diego Community College District. Dr. Carroll served 17 years as the District
Chancellor and was employed by SDCCD for 28 years. She retired from her position on
June 30, 2021.

The Equity Summit will be a two-day event held on the evening of Thursday, October
28 and during the day on Friday, October 29. The evening event will feature the lecture
series with Chancellor Emerita Carroll and Associated Student Government will present
the winner of the Student Art Contest.  On Friday, Chancellor Emerita Carroll will
provide the plenary address and the campus will engage in several presentations and
workshops connecting to the theme,  Leading for Equity - Embracing Diversity and Community
at Miramar College. 

“Dr. Carroll not only meant so much to Miramar College, but she meant so much to the
San Diego region,” said Dr. Wes Lundburg, president of San Diego Miramar College.
“Her leadership led to the growth of the College and provided so many more opportunities
for area students and the community. This is the least we could do to thank her for
her support over the years.”

Dr. Carroll's tenure as Chancellor included the transformation of District campuses,
making higher education more accessible, and helping students expand their opportunities
while attending community college.
