Gang Shootout: Stray Bullet Kills Escondido Woman
Catherine Kennedy, a 55-year-old woman from Escondido, was transported to Palomar Medical Center but later died from her injuries.

ESCONDIDO, CA – A woman was struck and killed by a stray bullet Tuesday while driving past a gang shootout in Escondido, authorities said.
According to the Escondido Police Department, Catherine Kennedy of Escondido was found with a gunshot wound to her head after her silver Toyota Camry crashed into a parked vehicle shortly after 9 p.m. alongside eastbound Grand Avenue near Midway Drive. After speaking with witnesses, investigators believe the 55-year-old woman had been struck by a stray bullet fired by one of at least two gang members shooting at each other.
The victim was transported to Palomar Medical Center after the shooting, but she later died from her injuries.

Police said a suspect has not yet been identified and the investigation is ongoing.
