Suspected DUI Driver Arrested After Escondido Solo Crash

ESCONDIDO, CA – A 25-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after being involved in a solo crash early Saturday.

Officers responded to the single-vehicle crash in the 900 block of W. Mission Avenue in Escondido at approximately 2:45 a.m., according to Escondido Police Sgt. Chris Leso.

The vehicle struck two electrical poles before coming to rest on a third utility pole, Leso said.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers determined the driver was "exhibiting signs and symptoms of intoxication," Leso said.

Power lines were energized at the time of the accident, but did not fall to the ground and did not pose a hazard, according to Leso.

The driver, who was not identified, was taken to Palomar Medical Center for her injuries. She was later arrested and released to the hospital, Leso said.
