"Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp" hits the Fair Oaks Community Clubhouse stage!

A cast of 15 talented Children, Teens and Parents are preparing to appear in New Star Children's Theatre's original version of "Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp" at Fair Oaks Community Clubhouse, 7997 California Ave, Fair Oaks on Saturday Aug. 24th at 7 pm and Sunday Aug. 25th at 3 pm!  This wonderful new musical is written by Melanie Thompson, an alumni of New Star Children's Theatre, an elly-nominated playwright.  The enthusiastic cast ranges from a young 5 year old, Jared Haggar, in his very first play, portraying the "Herald" and a Genie named "Nabu", to John Jeffs, a local Fair Oaks citizen, who plays "Sir Sayeed" in his 2nd New Star Production!  John enjoys acting in the plays alongside his daughter Jenna, 8, who is  in her 3rd New Star production, and playing the biggest part she has ever had, as "Daria", one of Aladdin's best friends!  Cast members include young actors like Julia Gutierrez, who at 8 years of age is in her 9th New Star production along with one of her best friends, Natalie Roeschen, who at the young age of 8 is performing as the "Genie" in her 21st New Star production.  New Star is a home away from home for the young actors, and life-long friends are found within the group, amongst the kids and parents alike.  New kids are welcomed into the family and Dana Hendry, Director of New Star, is proud of the fact that New Star is a true family.
Another important part of New Star is giving the older kids opportunities to direct, choreograph and even write scripts and songs that are produced for the public!  Rochelle Schaffer, 17, started with New Star at the age of 11, and has been in 26 productions as an actress, as well as being Choreographer for many of the productions, Assistant Director and was even nominated for an Elly for her part in co-writing the Elly Nominated script "The Girl I Seem To Be".  Rochelle will be portraying the hilarious character of "Darius", one of the evil Magicians in the show, and audiences LOVE watching Rochelle in the comical roles she excels at portraying!
