ASK THE COACH! - It's Your Movie!

The 1st Nugget from Ask The Coach! A tip that could help you and your business, plus a bit of challenging "homework" to get you moving in the direction you wish to go.

I am happy to begin what I intend to be a helpful series of Business Nuggets - tips to stimulate, inspire and resonate with the business community in the area. I'm calling it "Ask The Coach."

I have been coaching for 10 years officially (unofficially for more than 20 years), and I know those who seek new answers have to ask new questions. So I invite the reader to consider opening as though they are hearing some suggestions for the first time, even if they've heard "that song" before.

New to Fair Oaks, my immediate impression was the unique opportunities available to local businesses - a quiet community close to "the big city," yet vibrant in a very healthy, small-town way. And this makes for great appeal to residents of and visitors to the Eastern Sacramento area. I hope that I, as "new blood," might add to the enthusiasm of the scene.

Today, as my first post, I'd like to begin with what I feel is the most primary, important key to enjoying your work and your life: It's your movie! That is, you are writing your script (the life you are living) whether you know it or not. If others seem to be leading you, controlling you, restricting you, it is because you have been trained to give them the pen (the power) to do it. Not to say that outside "things" don't happen - they do. And we can do nothing about many of them. But... how we respond to them, what we make them mean, is up to us.

From the Coach's Box: Name one thing in your business (or your life) that you've wanted to do, but haven't yet. What's kept you? What is the worst and best that could happen as a result? Imagine one action this week you could take to get that ball rolling. Tell yourself precisely when you would do it. Ask someone to hold you accountable to make sure you did it.
