New Star Alumni Joins Staff, Offers Voice & Acting Lessons

Kayla Hendry grew up from the age of 4 performing in New Star shows.  Her first role was as one of Tevye's youngest daughters in "Fiddler On The Roof".  Even at that early age, Kayla's dedication and love of musical theatre was evident.  The week of the performances she was sick with walking pneumonia.  Despite being very sick, she was determined to get up on that stage for her role.  She brought a pillow and a blanket and whenever she wasnt on stage, she would lay down backstage.  Even though the role was double-cast, she pushed herself, because of her deep love of performing.  Kayla has never changed, and that fierce determination to always do her best has given her a degree with honors, graduating from American Musical and Dramatic Academy in Los Angeles, with her Bachelor in Fine Arts and Musical Theatre on Oct. 13th!

Kayla wishes to share her love of theatre and music with local children and is coming back to work with New Star, the place where she got her start.  She will be choreographing and teaching singing with the group Supernova, and is excited to get started on their Holiday show.  

Kayla is now accepting voice and acting students for private lessons.  Her lessons are 1 hour in length and cost $25 each.  Her specialty is Musical Theatre and Acting for theatre.  She will also be offering several 1 and 2 day workshops and master-classes for youth interested in working on character portrayal and other important parts of theatre.
