Ladies: Eat More Citrus Fruit To Avoid Strokes
According to a new study, eating oranges and grapefruits are associated with a 19% lower risk for ischemic stroke in women.

According to a new study, oranges and grapefruits contain the highest concentration of flavanones which are associated with a 19 percent lower risk for ischemic stroke in women. While oranges are the best source of flavanones, a type of flavonoid, North Americans tend to drink the juices of these fruits, and juices often have higher amounts of sugar, which is counter productive. We are lucky to live in California, where we have fantastic and fresh citrus fruits full of good flavonoids to protect your heart and brain. Add them into your diet to help lower inflammation and strengthen your tissues. Fresh fruits including citrus contain many different flavonoids that have roles in keeping you healthy. While taking a supplement like vitamin C is very good for you, getting the nutrients from the fruit source is even better because you are getting more than just one type.
