Mira Loma HS Japanese Language Students Raise $1,000+ for Japan Relief

Mira Loma's Japanese Language students make a difference in the life of those hit hard in Japan after the earthquake.

The generosity of the Mira Loma community is evident as we announce that the Japanese language class, supervised by Ms. Kumagai, raised $1,210.47 for Japan Relief. The money will go to the Consulate General in San Francisco, who has promised it will be sent directly to the Red Cross in Japan.

According to a Japanese website (Yomiuri.com.jp), 14,919 people were confirmed dead, 9,893 people are still missing and 118,786 live in evacuation centers. Mira Loma plans to continue efforts to help those who are still suffering. In our Japanese classes, the students are making origami cranes and will be writing letters to Japan.

If you would like to make donation directly, the website www.sf.us.emb-japan.go.jp explains how to send donations to the Consulate General of Japan and also lists other organizations that will accept donations.
