Video of Beaten Woman Is Shameful and an Embarrassment

Sacramento has made national headlines again.

At least it's not like the time someone stole Lance Armstrong's bicycle after Stage 1 of The Amgen Tour of California that rolled through Sacramento.

Oh, wait. It's worse.

People always wonder why south Sacramento gets a bad rep. After watching this video, though, it's easy to see how some could come to that conclusion.

The video first aired on a mediocre website that encourages people to turn over their videos with the promise of internet stardom, and has since spread all over the internet.

This is an embarrassment on many levels:

1. Crimes like this are on the rise in the area.
2. These gentlemen seem to be in their 20s, taking pleasure in beating and harrassing a mentally disabled 42-year-old woman.
3. No one in the vacinity seemed to notice and/or care what was taking place.

And that's only naming a few.

I'd like to think I would have done something. If I was there, hell, I'd feel better knowing I got beat up on rather than any woman.

Is this becoming the norm in society? Or is Sacramento just an extra-special place to live?

Do acts like this warrant vigilante justice? Ummmmmm. That's for you to decide.

Editor's note: According to The Smoking Gun, "Rasaan Zawadi, 21, was busted after the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office obtained an arrest warrant charging him with assault with a 'gang enhancement.' A police spokesman noted that detectives believe that the October 1 attack was somehow gang related." 

Zawadi is seen in the video as the first person to assault the woman. The person videotaping and the man seen issuing the vicious left cross that floors the woman are still at large.
