Authorities responded to three domestic assault complaints in Carmichael during a recent four-day span, Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department reports show.

Arrests were made in each instance, though only one of the cases has reached a courtroom thus far, according to online court data from the Sacramento Superior Court.

William Myers, 23, appeared Wednesday in superior court, where he was charged with felony counts of inflicting corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant and assault with a deadly weapon.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to the Windmill Way apartment complex Myers shares with his 35-year-old pregnant girlfriend on Monday evening. According to the girlfriend, who told authorities she was five months pregnant, Myers attacked her during an argument, throwing both a vacuum cleaner and mountain bike at her before punching her several times in the head and side. The vacuum cleaner also struck her side, she told authorities.

When officers arrived at the complex, they found Myers walking up to them, said sheriff’s department spokesman Dep. Jason Ramos. Myers was detained in the back of the patrol car and the victim was then interviewed.

“Once deputies contacted the victim, and it was clear that Myers was going to be arrested, he did not respond favorably,” Ramos said. “He started banging his head on the window/cage in the back of the squad car, and injured his head in doing so.”

The victim suffered swelling, bruising and minor abrasions to her head and face, Ramos revealed, and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Myers was also appointed a public defender during Wednesday’s court hearing. Two years ago, Myers was given a three-year probation term after pleading no contest to a felony grand theft charge. In July, the matter was referred back to the county probation department, online court records show.

No formal charges have so far been filed against Mark Pounds, 41, of Carmichael, accused by his 39-year-old wife of striking her during a drunken argument on their way back from a party early Saturday morning. The couple’s daughter, who attended the party and drove back with them, corroborated the attack, Ramos said.

Pounds was booked at the county jail on charges of misdemeanor spousal abuse, a department report states.

While there’s no online court record of Pound’s arraignment on Saturday’s charges, a Mark Robert Pounds was given five years probation after pleading no contest to assault with a deadly weapon in March 2009.

Sheriff’s officials didn’t have much additional information on a Sept. 16 arrest in which a Carmichael man reportedly shoved his girlfriend to the ground. A department report states the 62-year-old victim struck her head on an unknown object, which caused a laceration and profuse bleeding. The woman was taken to the hospital and officers arrested Timothy Gagen, 53, on a charge of inflicting injury on a cohabitant.
