Carmichael Man Charged with First-Degree Sexual Assault of Child in Nebraska

A Carmichael man has been charged with first-degree sexual assault of a child in Sidney, Neb., The Sidney Sun-Telegraph is reporting.

George Makris, 56, appeared in Cheyenne County Court on Monday for presentment on two felony charges of first-degree sexual assault of a child and third-degree sexual assault of a child, The Sun-Telegraph reported. Makris faces a possible sentence of life in prison.

The alleged crimes took place between March 1, 2007 and May 19, 2009, The Sun-Telegraph reported. Makris informed court officials Monday he is seeking counsel and a counsel status hearing is scheduled for Friday at 9 a.m.
