Fake Panhandlers Hold Up Carmichael Restaurant Worker
Meth bust sends local probationer back to court.

Spare some wallet?
Two panhandlers got overly aggressive with a local employee Monday, demanding his wallet when he wouldn’t part with some change.
The Carmichael restaurant worker was approached walking to his car early Monday morning on the 6000 block of Madison Avenue. According to Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department officials, two unknown male suspects standing near the employee’s parked car asked him for change. When the employee declined, one of the men held a black folding knife to the 32-year-old’s shoulder and demanded his wallet.

After being told he didn’t have his wallet, the unarmed suspect searched through the victim’s belongings, pulling out his phone and throwing it to the ground. The unarmed suspect then attacked the man, attempting to punch and kick him, the report states. As the victim pulled back, the suspect with the knife slashed at the employee’s arm and shoulder.
The victim shouted for help, causing both suspects to flee, the report says. Except for a few scratches on his arm and shoulder, the victim came away from the encounter uninjured and with all of his belongings.

A Carmichael man was bounced from jail into a sheriff’s work project Tuesday following his weekend arrest in Rancho Cordova for drug possession, jail and court records show.
Jeffrey Lewis McKinney, 45, of Carmichael was pulled over near Routier Road and Folsom Boulevard as he was exiting a mobile home park around 12:40 a.m. Sunday, the sheriff’s department reported. A patrolling sheriff’s deputy recognized McKinney, who was serving the last six months of a three-year probation stint when the officer pulled over his red GMC Yukon to conduct a probation search, said sheriff’s department media officer Sharon Chow.
As McKinney stepped out of the vehicle, a glass-smoking pipe fell to the ground and shattered. Methamphetamine was later found in McKinney’s car.
On Tuesday, McKinney was sentenced to 90 days in the sheriff’s work project for violating the terms of his probation. Court records show he pled no contest in January 2009 to two felony counts of petty theft with prior jail time. In return, nine other felony charges were dropped.
And one more…
Methamphetamine was found on another probationer just north of Carmichael two days earlier.
Shortly before 9 a.m. Friday, Jeremiah Alsop, 30, of Sacramento was stopped near College Oak Drive and Saddlerock Way for riding a bicycle without proper lighting during dark hours, a sheriff’s department report states.
A probation search of Alsop turned up a small, torn, clear bag of meth inside Alsop’s coin pocket, the report says. He was booked into county jail on a charge of drug possession.
