Sacramento, CA – Fat Dentistry, which started in Sacramento in 1964 by Dr. Kenneth Fat and includes his daughter-in-law, Shareen Char-Fat, continues to serve generations of families and patients after 50 years.
Kenneth Fat is part of Sacramento’s long-time and respected Fat family, active in the Sacramento business community. Kenneth’s father was noted Sacramento restaurateur Frank Fat, and his wife Lina Fat is director of food operations for Fats restaurants.

It was customary for the eldest son to follow in his dad’s footsteps. Since Kenneth Fat was the second son, he embarked on a different career and found his passion in dentistry. “We only had one restaurant then and my brother went into the business so I chose a career in dentistry,” said Fat. “Besides I didn’t like washing dishes which we all had to do when we were in high school.”
Dr. Kenneth Fat and Dr. Shareen Char-Fat enjoy the close, personal connections they’ve made with generations of patients over the years.
“I’ve watched my patients grow from children to adults and on to have families of their own,” said Fat. “It’s truly been a wonderful and rewarding life experience.” The two dentists take great pride in their practice, keeping up with the latest technological advances in routine and cosmetic dentistry but also providing a level of service and ethics Dr. Fat established back in 1964.
Dr. Shareen Char-Fat enjoys the rewards of delivering treatment to patients to help them look better, feel better and overcome fears they might have about dental care.
“When it comes to looking good and feeling good, one’s teeth and smile are very important,” Char-Fat said. “Through our work, we have a meaningful effect on our patients’ well-being and quality of life. That’s a responsibility we take seriously.”Over 50 years, Fat has seen many changes in the profession and he’s kept pace with new developments, methodology and approaches to patient care. “The future of dentistry is really exciting,” adds Fat. “It’s a progressive profession and we are proud to be a part of its evolution.
Our patients expect the best and we will continue to ensure that services meet the needs of our loyal patient base… from the very young to the very old… and all generations who put their trust in us.”
