FBI Captures Citrus Heights Fugitive in Mexico, Brings Back to Sacramento To Face Charges

The man was wanted on attempted murder charges.

The following is a news release from the FBI:


On the evening of Tuesday, October 29, 2013, FBI agents from the Sacramento Division of the FBI returned Jose Manuel Aguilera, 21, formerly of Citrus Heights, to Sacramento, California by FBI agents to face charges of alleged attempted murder.

The Sacramento Police Department received custody of Aguilera upon his arrival in the United States.  Aguilera was located in Queretaro, Mexico, by the FBI this fall, less than one year after the issuance of a federal arrest warrant for Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution (U.S.C. Title 18, Section 1073).

Aguilera, charged with a single count of attempted murder, had fled to avoid prosecution for his alleged crime.

The Sacramento Bee reports the man was wanted in connection to a 2011 gang-related shooting.
