Feb. 11-20: Carmichael Woman Arrested for Biting Attack

Woman robbed during fake ticket exchange.

Once bitten

Sacramento County sheriff’s authorities interrupted a domestic disturbance incident at a Carmichael park Sunday, arresting a 25-year-old woman for violating her boyfriend’s temporary restraining order and biting him on the chest.

The 42-year-old male victim had followed Jenny McGinnis, 25, to the public park after she left their Engle Road residence during an argument. The victim told authorities he was concerned McGinnis was going to harm herself.

Two days earlier, McGinnis allegedly attacked the victim during a late-night argument at their residence. A sheriff’s report says the initial biting attack, which caused bruising, was not reported.

McGinnis was arrested Sunday on charges of domestic violence and for willfully disobeying a restraining order and booked at the Sacramento County jail.

Fake tickets, real crime

This is why scalping is a bad idea.

A 44-year-old woman who met a man in a parking lot to buy concert tickets Friday morning ended the day without tickets or the cash she brought to pay for them.

The female victim met the suspect, a white male in his 40s, in a public parking lot just outside of Carmichael. Becoming suspicious of the tickets’ validity, the victim asked the suspect to show her some form of identification. Seeming to comply, the man led her to a nearby mobile home park where he grabbed the victim’s cash and pushed her to the ground.

The suspect ran off, followed for a short distance by the woman, who fell down during her pursuit. The victim didn’t require any medical attention, according to a sheriff’s report. No arrest has yet been made.

Leave your work at home

A routine compliance check got a parolee in trouble with the law again.

Troy Lathers, 34, made the trip to the Sacramento County Parole Unit office at 5410 Auburn Blvd. in Sacramento, less than five miles north of Carmichael, for a compliance check around noon on Feb. 15.

Parole officers searched the vehicle Lathers drove to the office, discovering property that belonged to an 83-year-old female victim of a residential burglary, as well as a hypodermic syringe.

Sheriff’s deputies were notified and responded to the parole office, where they confirmed that the property was reported stolen. A parole hold was placed on Lathers by his agent and he was booked at the jail.

Check bashing

A check-cashing employee with a keen eye helped sheriff’s authorities arrest a counterfeiter last week.

According to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department, Mostafa Tabatabainejad, 28, entered Ace Cash Express on 5427 Auburn Blvd. in Sacramento, four miles north of Carmichael, and attempted to cash a computer-generated counterfeit check the afternoon of Feb. 14. The check was made out to Tabatabainejad as the payee.

The employee contacted the person the check was allegedly from and confirmed it was a fake. Deputies arrived and detained Tabatabainejad in front of the business. After the employee identified Tabatabainejad and deputies were able to reach the victim, Tabatabainejad was arrested without incident and transported to the Sacramento County Main Jail.

Window messing

A marijuana dispensary north of Carmichael was raided earlier this month.

A sheriff’s report says an unknown number of suspects broke into the PACC GROUP dispensary through a window early the morning of Feb. 11 and took an unspecified amount of medicinal cannabis products. Suspects fled the Auburn Boulevard specialty business before sheriff’s officers arrived. Suspect descriptions have not been released.
