Kevin Johnson Cheers Jesuit High's Solar Panels

High school's 530 kW Photovoltaic Solar System includes more than 2,200 solar panels, on 10 rooftops across campus.

Jesuit High School students lit up Tuesday afternoon as Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson visited the private school to commend the newly completed solar panel project.

It's one of the largest rooftop solar power systems on a North American high school campus, with more than 2,200 solar panels on 10 rooftops across campus, and will provide 48 percent of the school's electricity needs.

Johnson gave the school kudos for pioneering alternative energy in the schools, and the students gave him warm applause.
