Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Carmichael man late Saturday evening for discharging a laser at an aircraft.

David Sughroue, 49, was taken into custody at a Carmichael apartment complex and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail for a felony charge of discharging a laser at an aircraft. He is currently being held on $50,000
bail.

At about 11:30 p.m., the Sheriff’s communications center received a call from
the California Highway Patrol. CHP’s air support unit advised that a green laser was being pointed at their aircraft from a patio of an apartment on the 4900 block of Marconi Avenue.

CHP officers were able to direct Sheriff’s patrol units to the exact location where the laser had been discharged from.

Deputies responded to the complex and contacted Sughroue inside the apartment. Sughroue was found to be in possession of a laser pointer, and determined to be the person responsible for discharging it at the aircraft.
