Man Shoots Into Parked Car
A man armed with what turned out to be a BB gun was caught firing it at a parked car in Orangevale last week.
Sheriff’s authorities received reports of a man armed with a pistol walking down Hazel Avenue just before 6 a.m. March 7. When a sheriff’s deputy arrived on scene, he spotted Denai Croley, 28, pull a black handgun out and fire a round into a parked vehicle, shattering one of the side windows, according to a sheriff's report.
The officer made a U-turn and ordered Croley to put down the firearm, which was later determined to be a pellet gun. A sheriff’s report said Croley complied and was taken into custody without incident. He was charged with vandalism and negligent discharge of a firearm.
Man Sought After Punching Woman at Store
Sheriff’s authorities followed up a disturbing report of an assault that took place at a department store northeast of Fair Oaks earlier this month, but the suspect remains on the loose.
Around 10:45 p.m. on March 1, a man walked into a business in the 8900 block of Greenback Lane, according to a sheriff’s report. Though authorities didn’t name the business, a Wal-Mart is at that location. The suspect, later described as a 5-foot-8 Hispanic man between the ages of 30 and 50, grabbed display items from the shelves and took them with him to the men’s restroom, where he used the contents of the packages, the sheriff's reported.
The suspect left the restroom and walked to the toy aisles where he allegedly touched a 9-year-old girl on her back. The suspect then walked to the cosmetics area and down one aisle. As the suspect walked by a female customer, he punched the 29-year-old woman on the side of her head and neck, causing redness and swelling, according to a sheriff's report. The suspect then left the store and fled the area. He is being sought on an assault and battery charge.
