March 21-28: Foiled Bank Robber Escapes on Bike

Deputies tase 'suspicious' suspect in Carmichael parking lot.

Teller ignores threat

A bank teller foiled a robbery attempt Saturday afternoon, but the suspect escaped on a bicycle.

The suspect, who description was not available at press time, entered the Wells Fargo bank at 5051 Auburn Blvd. in Sacramento, less than five miles north of Carmichael, and handed the 26-year-old male teller a bag. The suspect told the teller to fill the bag up with money or someone would get hurt, according to a sheriff’s report.

A jewelry store just outside of Carmichael was robbed Wednesday morning of its precious stones.

According to a sheriff’s report, an unknown number of suspects smashed through the glass front door of Pearson’s U.S. Lapidary & Jeweler’s Supply around 6:30 a.m. March 23. Sheriff’s investigators say the suspects got away with an undisclosed amount of jewelry and fled to an unknown destination. No suspect descriptions were available.

Man tased during escape

A report of a suspicious vehicle brought Sacramento County sheriff’s deputies face to face with an armed man in a Carmichael parking area last week.

Deputies arrived to the lot on Manzanita Avenue and Fair Oaks Boulevard shortly before 2 a.m. March 21. Responding to calls of an occupied suspicious vehicle, deputies saw two cars and Branko Majsteoric, 35, of Sacramento, whom deputies attempted to detain.

According to a sheriff’s report, Majsteoric fled on foot, ignoring calls to stop. Deputies tased Majsteoric and took him into custody, discovering an armed firearm in his pants pocket.

After being medically cleared at a nearby hospital, Majsteoric was formally arrested and booked at the Main Jail in Sacramento. He was arraigned last week in Sacramento Superior Court on four felony counts relating to the firearm and for resisting arrest.
