Mayor Johnson to Keynote Solar Panel Celebration

Jesuit High School's 530 kW Photovoltaic Solar System includes more than 2,200 solar panels, on 10 rooftops across campus.

Sacramento's mayor will be at Jesuit High School Tuesday to celebrate one of the largest rooftop solar power systems on a North American high school campus.

Mayor Kevin Johnson will keynote the all-school celebration of the completed installation of a 530 kW Photovoltaic Solar System, which includes more than 2,200 solar panels, installed on 10 rooftops across the campus, according to a news release. For a brief photo tour, click here. 

The system provides 48 percent of the school's electricity needs and JHS was awarded the Sacramento Small Sustainable Business of the Year for Energy Conservation by the Sacramento Business Environmental Resource Center for this project "and Jesuit's ongoing efforts to be good stewards to the environment," the release states.
