Memorial Service Set for Hit-And-Run Victim
Gruesome Carmichael tragedy has left families seeking justice.
A memorial service for the young man who died after being hit by a suspected drunk driver in mid-July will be held this weekend at a church near the site of the tragedy.
, 21, died July 29 from "complications of multiple blunt force injury" as a result of the . The incident occurred 13 days prior, at the four-way stop of Garfield Avenue and Engle Road, where he and his girlfriend Gemily West were walking her four dogs through the crosswalk.
The driver, 32-year-old Paul William Walden of North Highlands, was just days later, while driving the suspected car. He remains in the main Sacramento County jail, ineligible for bail, and is scheduled for a hearing on August 29.

Walden, whose criminal history dates back to 2001, also has three previous DUIs. He's been charged with two counts of hit-and-run, DUI, four counts of animal torture and two counts of driving on a suspended or revoked license. The Sacramento District Attorney's Office is mulling whether to add to the case.
The service is set for this Saturday, August 25, at 1 p.m. at Arcade Church, 3927 Marconi Ave. Harry's father, Chris Randall, said it's open to the public.

"This is not a small case by any means," he said Monday. "It can't continue to happen. Too many people have lost loved ones and people are fed up with it...it's so sad that people have to pay with their live for something like this, because someone can't follow the rules."

Harry's father also said that will attend Walden's next court hearing. "I think it's going to be such a powerful statement, it's not going to fall through the cracks on my behalf," he said.
