Motorist Crashes into Power Pole on Madison Ave.

An intoxicated motorist crashed into a power pole on Madison Avenue in Carmichael on Sunday morning, temporarily knocking out power to about 600 homes, California Highway Patrol officials have confirmed.
Andrey Kadkin, 28, of Elk Grove, was driving a 2006 Blue Infiniti G35 eastbound on Madison west of Connecticut Drive at about 9:45 a.m. at a high rate of speed using all lanes, according to a CHP report. Veniamin Pantelyuk, 33, of Sacramento, was driving a gray 2001 Chevy Silverado eastbound on Madison in the No. 2 lane at 45 mph.
As Pantelyuk steered to move toward the No. 3 lane, Kadkin also did the same, approaching rapidly to the rear. Pantelyuk steered back to the left to the No. 2 lane and Kadkin's Infinity struck the right rear of the Chevy, according to CHP records.

The Infinity struck a wood utility pole and an electrical box followed by a brick and iron fence.
Kadkin was transported to with minor injuries and released, according to CHP records. He was placed under arrest for Driving Under the Influence and booked into the Sacramento County Jail at about 2 p.m.

Witnesses told the California Highway Patrol the driver of a sedan was going 80 miles per hour, Fox 40 reported.
