Naroe's Bakery Has Tradition

Business began as just a bakery and not much more.

Family owned and operated, is a full service bakery that sells bread not just in-house but also distributes and makes deliveries to local and chain stores.

It was opened by brothers Kevin and Arsen Petroysan.

“October 10, 1995,” said Kevin Petroysan, part-owner and operator of Naroe's. “We opened in 1995.”

Since that time it has remained in the same location of 6020 Fair Oaks Blvd in Carmichael, where it now stretches through much of the shops along a small hole-in-the-wall style shopping center.

The original idea for Naroe's Bakery began not so much as an idea, but more as a tradition. Of Armenian descent, the Petroysan family had a tradition of owning, operating, or baking bread going back many generations. How far, Kevin said he couldn't exactly remember, but knew it preceded him.

“We had a lot of good experience,” he said.

That is the reason they decided to open a bakery in the United States.

Petroysan remembers it all, not just down to the date they opened but the date his family immigrated in 1992 and the date they expanded to open a small shop full of European goods down the way in 2000.

They settled in the Sacramento area because they felt it was a good place to continue the family tradition. More specifically, they located the original site in Carmichael because they felt it was the perfect location to live, work, and be centrally located for their business.

The bakery is a constant baking process of many different styles of European breads.

“We bake fresh bread every day. Some organic and always natural,” Arsen Petroysan added.

Their style of baked goods stretches over the continents of Europe. They offer Russian bread, French breads, flat breads, sweet breads and much more.

Between the bakery and the shop is Arsen's insurance business and a mobile phone shop.

Since 2000, they have expanded the business with another full service bakery, this time in Citrus Heights.

Despite the economy, business appears to be doing fine. Local, organic, and natural, Carmichael seems to be the right place for their tradition to continue.
