The Rio Americano Boys and Girls varsity cross country teams both qualified for the Sac-Joaquin Section Championships, by placing among the top 10 teams at the Sac-Joaquin Subsection Meet held at Frogtown, Angels Camp, on November 9, 2013. Senior Elizabeth Hutchison and freshman Megan Auernig earned individual medals in the girls varsity race and led their team to a 5th place finish (out of 22 teams). Senior Kenji Anzai captured an individual medal in the boys varsity race and paced the boys to a 9th place finish (out of 27 teams). Sophomores Chris Harris, Cade Wright, and freshman Trevor Singley garnered individual medals in the sophomore boys race, and sophomore Lucy Giles, Allysa Evans and Rosie Morehead clinched individual medals in the girls JV race, and both the sophomore boys and JV girls teams also qualified for the section championships. The Sac-Joaquin Section Championships are being held on Saturday, November 16, 2013, at Folsom High School. The varsity girls race starts at 12:40 pm and the varsity boys race is at 1:45 pm.
