Rio Americano's Elizabeth Hutchison Advances to Her 4th State Meet

The Rio Americano High School boys and girls cross country teams ran in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division 3 Championships held at Folsom High School on November 16, 2013, and seniors Elizabeth Hutchison and Kenji Anzai captured all-section honors and received medals. Hutchison also qualified as an individual for the state cross country championships for the fourth straight year. "In my over 20 years of coaching, only one of my previous runners had qualified as an individual for the state meet all four years, so Elizabeth's feat is quite an accomplishment," notes Rio Americano Coach Gordon Hubble. Hutchison is also an elite soccer player, and she has verbally committed to attending the University of California-Irvine, where she will play soccer for the Anteaters next year.  She will run in the state cross country championships on November 30, 2013 at Woodward Park in Fresno, competing in the Division 3 girls race at 10:40 am. At the Sac-Joaquin Section Division 3 Championships, the Rio Americano varsity girls came in 4th place, and the varsity boys finished in 7th place (improving on their previous 9th place showing at the Sub-section meet the week prior). Sophomores Chris Harris and Chris Wright medaled in the sophomore boys race.
