
Two local residents received special recognition-- and promotions-- at the Roseville Walmart Supercenter this week.
Jeff Dierdorff and Amarjit Singhwere were promoted to AMT (assistant manager training program) and customer service manager respectively, at the Roseville Walmart Supercenter Tuesday, according to Walmart representatives. The two, who are both from Citrus Heights, are among 25,000 people from across the country who’ll be promoted during the company’s fourth quarter.
"Jeff started as a part-time sales associate in the pets department in 2007 and has been promoted several times prior to today," a press release announcing the appointments stated. "Amarjit started as a cashier in 2007 after moving to the U.S. from India that same year. She spoke such little English at that time that her first interviews were conducted in Punjabi. She just graduated from CSU-Sacramento this year and received her B.A. in business."

Walmart announced [Tuesday] that it is kicking off its holiday season with a special focus on more career opportunities for associates. The company expects to promote more than 160,000 associates to jobs with higher pay and more responsibility this year, including 25,000 promotions during its fourth quarter.
Top executives are traveling to stores today to congratulate promoted associates and thank them for the tremendous work they do serving the millions of customers who shop at Walmart. Promoted associates will receive higher pay and more responsibilities, as well as continued access to an affordable health benefits.
