Scorned Ex Steals Shotgun From Woman’s Apartment
Neighbors fight over money at Carmichael apartment complex.
Shotgun breakup
Unable to woo back an ex, a Carmichael man allegedly broke into the woman’s house and stole her shotgun earlier this month, Sacramento County sheriff’s authorities say.
Justin Ray Heidt, 28, of Carmichael faces misdemeanor charges of vandalism and unlawful entry following his Sept. 11 arrest at a Placerville hospital. Authorities believe Heidt went to the non-local hospital for treatment of a lacerated hand that was injured during the break-in.

According to a sheriff’s department summary, Heidt ran into his ex-girlfriend at a party and became upset when the 28-year-old woman refused to get back together with him. After the woman left the party, Heidt showed up to her Sacramento residence, where the woman’s daughter was babysitting her siblings.
The report says Heidt punched through a kitchen window, cutting himself, then entered the residence through an unlocked front door. Once inside, Heidt allegedly went to the back bedroom, took the shotgun and box of shells, and left the home. It wasn’t clear from the report how many of the children saw what transpired, though the victim’s daughter was identified as a witness.

Sheriff’s department media officer Sharon Chow said the woman called her daughter at one point to say she was on her way home.
A be-on-the-lookout bulletin brought Heidt to the attention of local authorities in Placerville, Chow said. He was then handed over to sheriff’s deputies, who booked him at the county jail.
Heidt’s next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 13.

Don’t bring a knife to a tire jack fight.
No arrests are expected to come from a violent confrontation between two neighbors of a Carmichael apartment complex that resulted earlier this month in one man’s arm being broken with a tire jack.
The residents of the Fair Oaks Boulevard complex got into it the afternoon of Sept. 7, when a 51-year-old man accused his 28-year-old male neighbor of owing him money for some items, said Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Dep. Jason Ramos. The 28-year-old refused to pay and the conflict escalated from there.
At least one witness told responding officers the 51-year-old male brandished a knife and possibly swung at his younger neighbor, who was also armed with a knife. The 28-year-old wasn’t cut with a blade, Ramos said, and responded by clubbing the 51-year-old man in the forearms with a tire jack, breaking his right arm.
Several passers-by and witnesses called in the fight, Ramos said.
The 28-year-old left the scene, but was driven back to the apartment complex by his mother, who he called after the fight had taken place.
“She convinced her son that it was in his best interests to return and give cops his side of the story,” Ramos said. “He agreed, so she picked him up and drove him back to the scene.”
The 51-year-old was taken to the hospital by emergency responders. Neither party was arrested and their names were not revealed.
While listed as the victim in the incident report, the 51-year-old “made it clear to officers that he would not be a ‘cooperative’ victim, and that he had no desire for (his neighbor) to be prosecuted,” Ramos added.
