Working at other dining, bakery and cafe spots in the area, he eventually found his way to the orient when they began their delivery service two years ago.

One of the first things for Flores to note was the customer service and friendliness of the atmosphere.

“It's very impressive,” he said.

The owners, he said, are very hands on people. They work hard, he added, sometimes working 10 or 11 hours a day, seven days a week.

Sometimes you can find them on the floor, with customers and waiters and waitresses, or in the back, prepping food and helping the cooks. This dedication and pride is what has kept customers coming back after all these years.

“Some people have been coming here for a decade,” said Flores.

Every day during the lunch hour, the Orient offers a special. Any series of combination plates for under $6. Sometimes, Flores noted, they'll have new plates to try out on the specials menu and listen to the local customers to hear their suggestions and receive feedback.

Flores said that with The Orient's respect for customers also comes a respect for its employees. All around, he said, it provides a more welcoming feeling to the restaurant.

“I love it here,” Flores added. “I’m very comfortable here.”
