Update: Sac City, County Keep Cooling Centers Open
Officials urge residents to check on senior neighbors and relatives.

Sacramento City and County officials announced they are planning to keep cooling centers open for people to temporarily get out of the heat through Thursday as initially scheduled.
Officials are especially asking seniors to stay cool.
"We are encouraging seniors to stay cool and encouraging people to check on seniors and those with mobility issues TWICE a day," said Chris Andis, County spokesperson.
Despite a slight drop in heat, a daily evaluation taken by officials helped them determine to continue to keep the centers open, according to a joint statement.
The heat remains worrisome with the area's increased high humidity, the release states.
Officials from both jurisdictions are expected to continue monitoring the heat daily.
"Service providers are on high alert and checking on heat-related issues as they visit seniors and those with mobility issues," officials report in the statement.
