4 Firefighters Treated For Injuries From 6-Alarm Apartment Complex Fire

Police said all residents were safely evacuated and that the Red Cross is assisting them.

FOSTER CITY, CA — Four firefighters are being treated for injuries as crews continue to battle a six-alarm fire in a Foster City apartment complex Sunday.

Units with the San Mateo Consolidated Fire Department were dispatched after a fire was reported at 815 Sea Spray Lane just after 2:30 p.m.

According to police just before 7 p.m., fire crews were in defensive mode, fighting the blaze from the exterior.

Police said all residents were safely evacuated and that the Red Cross is assisting them.

According to police, four firefighters suffered minor injuries during operations. One suffered burns and two experienced smoke inhalation, with two of those firefighters being transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Operations are expected to continue for several hours.

Thick, heavy smoke is still in the area and those living nearby are advised to keep their windows and doors closed, the Foster City Police Department said. All others are asked to avoid the area.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
