FOSTER CITY, CA — The Foster City Chamber of Commerce will host a workshop Thursday, Oct. 22, to help small business owners and professionals identify fraud and cybersecurity threats.
The workshop, "Reading the Warning Signs: Fraud, Cyber, and Risk Exposure for Small Business," will run from 9:30 a.m. to noon at The Training Center, 1455 Beach Park Blvd.
Bevan Smith, founder and CEO of Quasar Intelligence, will lead the session.
Smith will discuss how fraud and cyber threats can affect small and growing businesses, including warning signs that owners and employees may overlook. He will also introduce a framework for evaluating potential exposure to these risks.
Smaller companies often face these challenges without the dedicated resources and systems available to larger organizations, according to the chamber.
Business owners, managers and professionals who handle customer information or financial records are among those encouraged to attend. The session is also intended for others interested in understanding potential business risks.
Smith brings more than 20 years of experience in financial crime, payments risk and regulatory compliance. Before founding Quasar Intelligence, he served as vice president of operational and compliance risk at Visa, where he led enterprise risk methodology across seven global compliance areas, according to the chamber.
The event is part of the chamber's Women's Impact Network (WIN), which brings together entrepreneurs, business professionals, community leaders and advocates for shared learning and professional connections.
