Police Blotter: Tanbark Catches Fire at Ketcher Park

Monday
8:09 a.m., Beach Park Boulevard: A woman reported her vehicle was parked on the street in front of the school on the Edgewater
side when unknown persons broke into it by smashing her window. The suspects stole her purse from the passenger floor area. A report was taken.
2:42 p.m., Lord Nelson Lane: A person came to the front counter of the police station wishing to turn in a firearm for destruction. A Remington 20-guage shotgun was booked into police property for destruction and a report was taken.

3:34 p.m., Ketch Court: Someone reported seeing smoke coming from Ketch Park. Fire personnel responded and extinguished
tan bark that was on fire, cause unknown.
4:54 p.m., E. Third Avenue: Someone called from Windsurfer Park to report that a windsurf sail was wrapped around a post underneath the San Mateo Bridge and that he or she was concerned there may be a subject in distress out in the water. The Coast Guard was notified and Fire personnel responded. However, all agencies were canceled after contact was made with the owner of the windsail, who was not in distress.

5:37 p.m., Marlin Avenue and Beach Park Boulevard: An anonymous person reported seeing a possible windsurfer or kitesurfer in
distress about 30 minutes before, wearing a red wetsuit. Fire personnel launched their boat and the Coast Guard was notified, but no one in distress was located.
7:09 p.m., Metro Center Boulevard: The manager of the Orchard Supply Hardware reported that employees had informed him of a grab-and-run theft of tools that had occurred between 6:55 and 7:00 p.m. Employees described the thief as being a white male in his 30s or 40s, last seen driving northbound over the Foster City Boulevard overpass in a white 90s Subaru Outback with gray trim and no license plates. A report was taken.
11:04 p.m., Scorpio Lane: A man came to the front counter of the police station and requested advice and police accompaniment at midnight that evening to take possession of his residence from former tenants. Officers provided service.
11:45 p.m., Foster City Boulevard: Someone reported that his or her apartment was burglarized sometime between 7 p.m. on Aug. 10 and 10 p.m. that night (Monday, Aug. 15). The burglar's method of entry is currently unknown. Stolen were jewelry, designer handbags, an Xbox game console and games, with a total worth of approximately $5,000. A case was taken.
