At least two people have been killed in a crash off a dirt road in rural San Mateo County near La Honda, a California Highway Patrol officer said.
The crash was reported at 11:22 a.m. near a dirt road in the area of Alpine and Mindego Hill roads, south of state Highway 84 near Sam McDonald County Park.
CHP Officer Kevin Bartlett said it appears that a vehicle, possibly an SUV, went off the roadway and tumbled into a canyon.

"We're going in slow motion because it's so hard to get to everyone," Bartlett said.
At least two medical helicopters have been dispatched to the area.
He said it appears the occupants of the vehicle might have been doing work in the area for a local open space organization, but said that is still unclear.
