Smoke from the blaze could be seen in neighboring areas.

By City News Service

Firefighters in Santa Ana have the fire burning between a plastic recycling center and a building owned by the Irvine Ranch Water District under control.

”This is going to be a long overhaul process,” said Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Tony Bommarito. “The fire is (under) control from where it’s burning. It’s going to take a while to get to the middle of it and take it out.”

Firefighters are expected to be at the scene in the 2500 block of South Susan Street until at least 4 p.m., Bommarito said.

Firefighters were dispatched to the location at 10:15 a.m., he said, adding that an approximate time of when the fire was under control was not immediately known.

No injuries were reported and a cause of the fire was under investigation.
