91 Fatal Crash Causes Morning Sig Alert During Morning Commute

An early morning collision causes lane closures on the 91 near Yorba Linda. A fatality

YORBA LINDA, CA — A 25-year-old man from Riverside was killed in a Monday multi-vehicle crash on the westbound Riverside (91) Freeway in the Orange County area of Yorba Linda.

The man, pronounced dead at the scene, veered his Nissan Maxima into the right shoulder concrete divider at just before 4:30 a.m. Monday morning. The Maxima headed back into traffic, crossing over into the left lanes where it was struck, driver's side, by a Chevrolet Silverado.

CHP reports that the Silverado was traveling at approximately 70 miles per hour. The driver of that vehicle, 22-year-old Tyler Janke of Murrieta was unhurt.

The Maxima driver's name was not immediately released, according to CHP.

During the investigation that followed, two westbound lanes were closed for an investigation into what caused the crash.

California Highway Patrol stated that the crash occurred about 4:30 a.m. near Coal Canyon Road.

Information was not immediately available on the gender and age of the fatally injured person.
