Armed Robber Nets $2K, Lottery Tickets in Liquor Store Hold-Up

The Santa Ana store clerk struggled with the gunman in the morning incident, officials said.

ORANGE COUNTY, CA – A gunman took a cash register filled with about $2,000 in cash from a Santa Ana liquor store early this morning following a struggle with the store's clerk, police said.

The clerk was not injured during the robbery, which was reported at 12:20 a.m. at Valley Liquors at 2429 W. Edinger Ave., said Santa Ana police Cmdr. Matt Sorenson.

The clerk told police the suspect entered the store and pointed a small black handgun at him and demanded money.

A struggle ensued between the clerk and the suspect, Sorenson said.

The suspect made off with about $2,000 and an unknown amount of lottery tickets, Sorenson said.

A detailed description of the suspect was not immediately available.
