Arrests Made In Serial Theft Ring

Santa Ana Police Department made multiple admitted gang-member arrests following a series of area car jackings and robberies.

SANTA ANA, CA — Four gang members were behind bars Wednesday following a series of arrests by Santa Ana Police, Wednesday. Resident Antonio Gomez, a 20-year-old Santa Ana resident, was among those arrested. All were suspected of committing a series of street robberies and carjackings across inland Orange County.

"The robbery series started on August 2nd, and continued until August 9th," Santa Ana Police Department Sergeant spokesperson said. The robberies encompassed various neighborhoods throughout the city.

"To date, detectives believe the suspects’ crime spree included seven armed street robberies, two armed carjackings, one attempted street robbery and one attempted armed robbery which turned into a shooting at a vehicle.

Along with Gomez, three juveniles were arrested in this case, SAPD said. "All four are are documented or self-admitted gang members," the spokesperson for the department said.

"All four of these suspects were identified as being involved in one or more of these incidents, according to SAPD.

All four of the suspects were arrested on August 17 and August 18 and are facing numerous counts of robbery, carjacking and gang allegations/enhancements, police said.
