NEWPORT BEACH, CA --- An 8-year-old boy riding a bicycle was fatally injured in a collision with a trash truck this afternoon in Newport Beach.The boy was struck about 1:30 p.m. on 15th Street between Irvine and Fullerton avenues near <a href="http://newportheights.nmusd.us/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Newport Heights Elementary School</a>, according to police Lt. Jeff Brouwer.It was not immediately known if the boy was a student at the school.The boy, whose name was withheld pending family notification, was pronounced dead at the scene, Brouwer said.--Patch will update when more information is available.--City News Service
