Only One Real Choice in the 72nd Assembly Election
There's really no debate who's the best 72nd Assembly District Candidate -- he's the honest one who won't raise your taxes -- business man Travis Allen.

After the Re-Districting, Fountain Valley has some changes to deal with -- our State Assemblyman is no longer former Costa Mesa Mayor Allan Mansoor. He's now running for the 74th District and will easily be re-elected to his second two-year term.
Fountain Valley's been placed in the new 72nd District which also includes Westminster, Seal Beach, Los Alamitos/Rossmoor and parts of Santa Ana and Garden Grove. Six candidates ran in the Primary, and with the very unfortunate passage of "Top Two" by (thankfully and finally) former Governor Schwarzenegger, we've got two Republicans to choose from in November. Huntington Beach business man Travis Allen is opposing Los Alamitos Mayor Troy Edgar.
The choice between these two Republicans is easy -- one's a Conservative, honest financial advisor, the other's a dishonest, opportunistic politician. Allen's successful business allows him to "give back" and run for a position that pays less than $100k annually while his business is run by his partners. Edgar seems to need the job, and gathered early endorsements (before Allen's entry into the race) from much of the local Republican establishment even though he'd been a registered Democrat until 2006. As well, Edgar had first been running in the Congressional primary against Gary DeLong, a stronger and more professional Republican and established Democrat Alan Lowenthal in the 47th District (roughly, Little Saigon to Long Beach) and the GOP couldn't afford split voting which might have cost a Republican the second spot on the ticket.

This Assembly race is all about AND ONLY ABOUT TAXES -- who might raise them if the right kind of deal was offered as happened in Los Alamitos with Edgar and the city's trash haulers versus a man who signed the Americans for Tax Reform Pledge where "candidates and incumbents solemnly bind themselves to oppose any and all tax increases". We can NOT elect a candidate who might sell out and do a Doris Allen on us -- a loss of only two seats in the Assembly gives the Democrats a two-thirds majority and carte blanche to legislate new taxes and start dismantling Proposition 13 as the liberals have wished to do for years.
The ATR Pledge is the "Gold Standard" when it comes to political promises. It's a NATIONAL commitment, and followed by every news and political organization of any importance.

Troy Edgar refused to sign the ATR Pledge and instead offered his "word" that he won't raise taxes -- except he has, in over one dozen votes over six years on the Los Alamitos City Council. It's more than unclear how the OC GOP labeled Edgar as "Tax Fighter of the Year" when there's absolutely no evidence to support such a claim or award.
We don't need Troy Edgar representing us in the Assembly. His opponent CAN be trusted to do the right thing -- not raise our taxes. They're sky high already, and we're in need of the serious reform we should expect from Travis Allen and his fellow Conservatives.
