Community Event Aims to Reduce Injuries & Deaths Related to Falling

Mobül: the home mobility store Joins Forces with Local Non-Profit Heart of Ida to Educate Area Residents

Area residents are invited to attend a FREE educational event at the Fountain Valley location of Mobül: the home mobility store to learn how to identify the risks of falling and develop a plan to reduce them. In addition to valuable educational content, the Mobül University event will feature raffles and refreshments.

As people age, physical changes and health conditions – and sometimes the medications used to treat those conditions – make falls more likely. In fact, falls are a leading cause of injury among older adults.

Dr. Gretchen Swanson, event speaker and advisor with Heart of Ida, a non-profit organization that monitors the safety net of 43,000 older adults in Long Beach, Calif., holds a post professional clinical doctorate in physical therapy from USC, and a master’s in public health in health education and behavioral science from UCLA. She sits on the LA Fall Prevention Coalition Steering Committee and co-coordinates the Statewide Fall Coalition “StopFalls.Org”.
