Coroner ID's Midway City Pedestrian, Killed In Huntington Beach

Over the weekend, a pedestrian died when struck by a car outside of a crosswalk.

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA — On Friday night, a man was struck and killed while crossing Beach Boulevard outside of a crosswalk, Huntington Beach Police reported. On Monday, Gil Vasquez, a 59-year-old Midway City resident, was confirmed as the person killed in that incident, according to the Orange County Supervising Deputy Coroner Art Baron.

The crash was at 10:50 p.m. Friday in the area of Beach Boulevard and Blaylock Drive and officers located the victim on the sidewalk, Huntington Beach police Sgt. Eric Warken said.

"The pedestrian sustained major trauma and was transported to the UCI Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries," Warken said.

The man was struck by a 1999 black and purple Saturn driven by a 52- year-old Huntington Beach woman as he crossed Beach Boulevard outside a crosswalk and walked into the path of the northbound vehicle, the sergeant said. The driver remained at the scene.

No arrests were reported.
